Technology Device Drop Off and Student Belongings Pick Up
Important Message button

A message from Mrs. Ursetta, Principal:

Dear BCE Families,

Thank you all for supporting our students during this unprecedented time with remote learning.  Our teachers and all of you have done an amazing job helping our students navigate through a new way of learning.  We are heartbroken and sad that we will not be able to hold our traditions and celebrations to close out the school year.  However, we are grateful to be able to return to the school building and collect important supplies and belongings in accordance with district, state, and CDC guidelines.  Please allow for flexibility as information from the state can change at a moment's notice.

For health and safety reasons, only a limited group of employees have been granted access into the building and will be available to facilitate pick up/drop off. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. As a side note, please be aware that teachers will not be on site during this event.  To facilitate a quick process, please come prepared and follow the directions below.

Prior to coming to pick up or drop off items, please be sure you have:

  1. Labeled all items that your student will be returning to school and place in a clearly labeled bag with student name and grade level.
  2. Read this information for BCE Curbside Pick up/Drop Off carefully
  3. Placed a sign with the student(s) last name in the right-hand corner of your vehicle windshield and the number of students for whom you are picking up supplies. (Example: Ursetta 2)
  4. If your student borrowed a school or district device, please also read this communication: Device Drop Off Communication link   Please return all devices prior to supply pick up. Device drop off is set up on the south side of the building in the bus loop area.

Protocol of Pick Up Student Supplies/Drop Off School Items:

When: On Thursday, May 21, 2020 and Friday, May 22, 2020 we are permitted to schedule a time for our parents/guardians to pick up student belongings and medications left at the school and to drop off items such as library books and textbooks that need to be returned to the school. (If you have technology devices to drop off such as chrome books or i-pads, please refer to specific device return information that is linked above and below.)

For health and safety reasons, we have been instructed to facilitate pick up/drop off through a curbside process with assigned time/date slots. Student supplies such as notebooks, pencil boxes, workbooks etc. will be bagged and labeled for parents to pick up. If your student has left a specific item of value in the classroom (glasses, musical instrument etc.), please directly email your child’s teacher and we will do our best to locate these items.  If you will not be coming to the school to pick up supplies and prefer to donate school supplies left in the classroom, please reach out to your teacher as well.

Classwork and learning on May 21st and May 22nd:
Please note that for May 21-22, your child’s teacher will communicate learning opportunities that will not require a device.  This is to ensure that all students can continue to participate in learning even if their device has been turned in.

Family Pick Up/Drop Off Time Blocks by LAST name:
  • A-C    8:30-10:00am  (Thursday, May 21st)
  • D-K   10:30am-12:00pm (Thursday, May 21st)
  • L-P    1:30-3:30pm (Thursday, May 21st )
  • Q-S   3:30-10:00am  (Friday, May 22nd)
  • T-Z    10:30am-12:00pm  (Friday, May 22nd)

Please do not feel that you have to be in line at the start of your time. You are welcome to arrive at any point during your assigned slot. We want to be mindful of not backing up traffic in front of our school.

Belongings not picked up during your specified time/date will be stored and inaccessible until the 2020-2021 school year.  Only parents/guardians of students will be able to pick up their child’s belongings.

Please prepare your vehicle for returning school resources and for receiving student contents by following these steps:

  1. Please place a sign with the student(s) last name in the right-hand corner of your vehicle windshield and the number of students for whom you are picking up supplies. (Example: Ursetta 2)
  2. Please empty the trunk/rear compartment of your vehicle of all materials except those items that will be returned to the school.
  3. Once you pull up to a marked cone, please pop the trunk from inside the vehicle. If your vehicle does not offer this function, a core team member will open the back hatch, remove the resources being returned and take them to be quarantined.

Process: Curbside Drop Off/Pick Up Protocols
In order to maintain the safety of our families and staff, students and parents/guardians will not be permitted inside DCSD buildings.  We ask that families remain in their vehicle during this process, and wear a cloth mask if possible. Families are advised to limit the number of people coming to pick up/drop off items. If at all possible, please leave students at home. Designated school staff will wear protective gloves and masks throughout this process.

During your pick up time, you will pull your vehicle into the front carpool line and follow signage. Prior to coming to the school, please place any items that need to be returned in a clearly labeled bag that is easily accessible for a staff member to get from the trunk of the car. A member of our staff will come to your vehicle to get the bag from your trunk and also place your child’s bagged school supplies into the trunk. (This will be similar to the process for picking up groceries at the store.)

Medication Pick Up:
For students who have medications for parent/guardian pick up, the location will be at the end of the front car loop and will be marked with a sign. Lisa Self, our BCE health assistant, will have medication bagged and labeled to return to parents.  Verification of name and birth date will be required. All medication that is not picked up will be properly disposed of after May 22nd.  We are unable to store medications over the summer.

Device Drop Off: Please read Device Drop Off Communication.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this process.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer full of love and happiness. Please stay healthy and safe.  We look forward to seeing you all next school year.
