Your kids and teens communicate constantly through their smartphones. Learn how to stay a step ahead of the game and ensure that you are empowered with the resources to help them navigate online. Join DCSD, Sky Ridge Medical Center, and other parents in sharing information and walk away with ways to keep your kids safe.
Online Safety with Y.E.S.S.
Our children are constantly communicating through phones and online. Learn about the resources that students are educated with in DCSD using the Y.E.S.S. Program (Youth Education and Safety in Schools) to keep them safe online. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Youth Education & Safety in Schools (YESS) Instructor, Deputy Sean Heidman, will be presenting on how the Y.E.S.S. Program prepares our students for online safety.
BCE School Wide Presentation: given at the beginning of the school year and tailored per grade level
School Wide Positive Based Program: The Energy Bus: based on the book by Jon Gordon
Classroom Lessons throughout the year provided by our school counselor. Example include:
Kindie and 1st grade: Friendship lessons, kindness, and being unique and accepting others' differences, expected vs. unexpected behaviors.
2nd Grade and 3rd Grade Bully Beans unit as well as lessons around accepting others and conflict resolution.
4th-6th grade: Conflict resolution lessons targeted at common developmental appropriate issues. Definition of Harassment might be introduced in 6th grade
